As a leading Organized Research Unit (ORU) within the Office of Research, Institute of the Environment brings together a broad interdisciplinary community to translate scientific discovery into applicable solutions. Our work spans environmental health, watershed management, carbon sequestration, energy transitions, environmental justice and climate resilience.
Through collaborative, applied research and experiential education, the Institute advances the UC Davis mission of research, teaching and public service. To this end, the Institute is structured around topical areas – interdisciplinary research that integrates the work of our centers and programs to deliver real-world solutions.
